In the 1980s, when TN's moderators were still wondering how to get that big hair look, F. Randall Farmer and Chip Morningstar were building one of the first graphical chat systems, which turned into an an early experiment in social, economic, and political engineering in cyberspace. "The Lessons of Lucasfilms' Habitat" is one of the most heavily cited papers in the area and a must-read for anyone thinking about doing research here. They continue to flesh out these lessons, and, through their new blog, will apply them to ongoing debates in virtual world research and design. Highly recommended.
Thanks for the heads up, Ted. Looking forward to this one too.
I don't know if Randy and Chip had big hair, but the Habitat avatar Terry sure did!

Virtual World blogs are good things, we need more of them. :) I know where one is that you don't know about, but I'm keeping it secret. ;)

Curses! Our top secret virtual world blog is discovered, and we'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids!
Oh, and thank you. :)
