Google was thinking about making a virtual currency but did not, apparently due to regulatory concerns.

Apparently a potential of few hundred million revenue doesn't worth the tedious legal works and risks. hmm, what do you guys think?

Just read in Popular Science that currencies are popping up all over the world.
In Kenya, for instance, over thirty percent of the people use an Iphone app to buy everything and many businesses use the app instead of cash too.
In Japan there are entire shopping districts using one virtual currency or another - what is the difference if the phone can translate literally trillions of different dough.
I know I didn't relay this very well, read Popular Science.
But I would think Google would want to reconsider this.
